Congratulations to shmileblik for winning our first weekly photo contest! Here’s a bit more information about our first flickrite of the week:

Name: shmileblik

Location: Limoges, France

Concept behind the photo: “A new year for a new birth (and a wordplay in French ‘egg= oeuf / nine= neuf’)”

How long have you been photographing?
I’m really photographing since I’ve got my DSLR on May 2008. I was planning a trip to NY and it was a very good opportunity to begin. Actually I became aware of my attraction for photography during a trip in Manchester in 2007. During a week I’ve walked in the streets with my Fuji Finepix S5000 and it was great!
Anyway I’ve always liked pictures. I draw a little and practised some photoshop.
Since May 2008…and therefore since I’ve started a 365 on flickr, it becomes bigger and bigger. Not only I’m a fladdict, but I’m also a photo-addict and photoshop-addict. The more I take photo, the more I want to take others because the more I do mistakes, the more I learn!
For example I learn a lot with my K-meleon serie, even if results are not so good as I’d like. I improve selfportrait, lightening and , of course a lot digital edition. The real cool thing when you are a whole begginer is that your work can just become better Hope I could continue to improve my photo in order to change my job and find one more creative.(I have mine fingers crossed)

What inspires you?
Flickr a lot! There are som much talented people! (you are one of my favourites!) (aw shucks! – paul), Alexandre Bertin, Popo Ping Pong, El Mexicano, Coco K, :n: and such a lot! My rss reader is huge and it’s just the beginning!
Novels I read, especially Paul Auster’s world.
Street: I love to watch people walking in the street, look up what’s happening on the top of the buildings, behind a window…
I don’t read fashion reviews…but I should, I could learn a lot on strobist. (Next time I’ll go to the hairstylist I’ll read all the reviews!)
Some photographers like Eggleston, artists like Jeanne Galizia.
I only visit exposition (photo or painting) during summer holiday…but I should do all along the year.

Film or Digital?
Definitely Digital…but my grand mother has just offered me her Kodak Brownie Six-20 and thanks to El Mexicano and topic on photographywired, I’m waiting for my first Holga (I can’t wait to receive it from China…I’ve bought it last tuesday!) So i’m going to be a filmaddict in 2009! Anyway I’m sure, I’ll edit films with my favourite software.So it ‘ll be a kind of mix between film and digital!

If you only could take one more final photograph – What would the subject be?
Sky, because light cames from it and it could be the last thing I saw before closing my eyes for the last time.
